ac/heater blower fan regulator?

I just took my 93 v8 dakota to the dealer, as my blower fan had quit. Looking at my bill, I see they charged me 1.5 hours to replace a $5 regulator. I don't see it on my schematic, and would just like to know where this tough to get at part is --- thanks

Re: ac/heater blower fan regulator?

the fan regulator is on the passenger side firewall under the hood-top-left/its a little black fiber board with a wire harness and its held in with two screws/if you take it out there are several different size resistor wires that look like little coils and each one controls the different fan speeds usually the one thats not coiled is the one that burns into its the main power feed and high speed circuit it can be changed in less than five minutes/mine burned into and I fixed the wire about six months ago and it just went bad again only this time the blower fried I suspect it was going bad then this why it burned the wire the first time so the regulator may only be a temperary fix

Re: ac/heater blower fan regulator?

Regulator is really called a "resistor" Chrysler Part No. 04462841. I was told this is the most frequent repair part for blower problems. My cost was $8.95 + tax. Took 5 min. to remove & 5 min. to replace. Simply follow erbgrass93's instructions, only remove the wiring harness and plug before un-screwing. A short might be possible otherwise.
