Oil leaks on 3.0L
I've worked at an auto repair shop for a number of years and had more than one maxima three liter come in for a mysterious oil leak. I spent a number of hours diagnosing the first one and found the leak to be coming from the bottom of the left bank. After teardown, I found there to be a small silicon rubber o-ring to be the problem. It was located at the seal between the block and rear timing chain housing, on the left. There is only this little 3 cent o ring standing between 60 psi of oil pressure and the outside of the motor. Is this a known problem? Is there a kit for a more permanent fix?

Re: Oil leaks on 3.0L
i've never heard of it being a real problem. usually nissans are good about keeping oil. a lot of my friends with V-tec cars(which burns oil) are always amazed that i don't have to add oil nearly as often as they do.
as for a fix it kit, there aren't any i know of, cuz i never had the problewm and it's not really widespread. the best thing to do would be to call nissan tell them you're a mechanic and basically say exactly what you told us.
