Old vids of my car

I started a new thread for these, to avoid hijacking the thread I was going to post them in...

http://www.posracing.net

http://www.posracing.net/files/wrx10fps100qual.avi

http://www.posracing.net/files/vr615fps.avi

right click, save as. I dont believe you can stream them as it will try to do on my PC.

Some intersting notes while I'm posting them... For anyone that doubts the stutterbox launch advantage, see the race against the also-AWD WRX. By the time I'm in second hes not even in the frame. This is typical. Thats was a launch at full throttle stuttering at 5500 rpm, with about 15 psi before the car is even moving. And for anyone that doubts the AWD to FWD advantage, see the race against the VR6. The difference on the street is even more noticeable, since my car will take off just as hard, but on an unprepared surface (the track is treaded with chemicals) the FWD has an even harder time launching. In short, by the time I reach the end of second gear, which is 60 mph, the fwd car on the street still doesnt have traction in first. I'm now about 400 feet out, cant really measure that in "car lengths" If you have read the GSX sucks in snow thread, I mention that I run Dunlop SP Sport 4000 All Season tires. They do pretty well for launching the car, and they are great in the rain/snow. I dont think I will eve change tires unless they discontinue these.

Its also important to note how simple the mods were that I had. Used 14b, used 1g BOV, hard upper pipe, PRofec B, 190 pump, ACT 2600, BR 2.5 turbo back, K&N filter, and the key parts, pocketlogger and AFC Stock injectors, intercooler, motor/head/cams, etc. You can see that it doesnt take much. I think the total investment in "power" mods was less than 2000, and that includes the bling bling electronic boost controller I eventually ran this very setup down to 12.74 at 109...

Let me mention that I'm not trying to brag in any of this. Just want to illustrate, for those that dont understand, why we choose to start with these cars... Plenty of people have gone faster than me with the same parts, and even now at 11.84 and 119 mph, I'm nowhere near fast. I think I'm at 108 on the AWD list and I'm still officially listed as #140 (www.dsmtimes.org) with my 12.02 on the 16g. Time to update that! Everyone on this site with a AWD DSM has this very same potential, to go pretty damn quick on very few mods, especially on the street.

Enjoy

Re: Old vids of my car

how does the stutterbox work?
just thinking about it, on FWD it would be worthless because of the wheelspin it would cause. launching my spyder is a bitch. any boost over 14 psi in 1st will spin/hop tires when boost hits around mid rpm and then if you got a good start, the wheels will spin again at high rpm if i leave it at WOT, no matter the boost setting [btw: profec b spec 2]. 1st is a bitch... once i get thru 1st, a chirp into 2nd and i'm smokin'. i also noticed that the t-25 won't hold boost at high RPM. i was told it was a characteristic of the t-25, but if i'm wrong and i can tune it better shout it out.

The stutter box jsut cuts fuel and/or spark at the rpm level you select. In doing so, it puts a load on the motor, which spools the turbo. You can also set it low for FWD use. People with FWDs do use it It is true that the t25 wont hold over 15 psi on a 2 liter motor. Part of it is because of the super small turbin houisng, which increase manifold pressure which blows open the internal wastegate. THAT part can be worked out, but the turbo is so small anyway, its not worth the effort

Re: Old vids of my car

I never delt with M/T versions of my car. What would be the diff between a stutter box and a rev limiter, or is it basically the same?

Re: Old vids of my car

I must say, that subie was properly handed his ass of the line. I need a video camera. I have never seen my car launch in anger. I only heard my 3 inch exhaust from outside the car once....talk about goosebumps. Generally people don't treat DSM's in my area like other imports....i think we are breaking in the crowds to DSM power.

Re: Re: Old vids of my car

the B is 3rd, the B spec-2 is 2nd on the bling-bling scale, 0 bling being a true-value, made it out of parts for my toilet, and alot of plumbers tape MBC, and the profec E being 10 bling points...

Its the same thing esentially, just different in the application. So you could say my car has 3 revlimiters. Redline, shifting (full throttle or no lift shifting), and launch.

He seemed a bit surprised after that. But his car was pretty stock. The thing is, that was probably a high 1.7 sixty foot. I'd kill for video footage of some of of my 1.5s... And my 11 second runs instead of 13.4s, lol Oh well. I plan to get a lot more video this year. Time to put the GF to good use...
