Post Engine Problem

Hey Guys,

I have acquired a non-operational 1996 Eclipse RS from my brother and I am hoping with the advice of you good people, I can have it up and running soon.

So, as he tells me, two years ago, the car used to run but would use a lot of engine oil. He had to put in oil every 2 weeks. One day, the engine just seized, he suspects he had ignored the sign to put in more oil.

I suspect it may require a new engine. Also, what else in addition to the engine and tires (as has been sitting for two years) may need replacement?

Please do share your thoughts.

Cheers
Vic

Re: Engine Problem

the struts are probably not in good condition if it has been sitting for that long. Otherwise drain all fluids and replace (clutch/brake/power sterring). Check the CV boots for cracking as those will need to be replaces as well.

Cant put a turbo 4g63 in a 2g NT unless you plan to make all of the motor and tranny mounts yourself. Unless you are a master fabricator, dont bother.

Re: Engine Problem

Hey Guys

Thanks a bunch for your inputs. Do you know any sites that sell mitsubishi engines. The specs are non-turbo, 16 valve, 2.0 DoHC.

Cheers
Vic
