Oxygen Sensor removal.
i've been trying to get the O2 sensor out of my 94 civic DX. I think it takes a 22m socket/wrench. All I have that size is an open end wrench. There is not enough turning room for the wrench.
Anyone know exactly what size it takes? It could take a 21, Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it out? I was thinking about getting a 22 deep socket, cutting the wire to the sensor and try getting it off that way Is that the best way to remove it? It is pissing me off, it looks like it should come right out, but it is fighting me all the way! |

Re: Oxygen Sensor removal.
I thought it was 7/8ths. And you need a O2 sensor socket to remove it.
Best way to get it out is to remove the piping that's it's attached to.

They make a special socket for it, and if I remember right, it's not a metric size. For removing it though, just cut the wire. I bought the special socket at autozone, it was cheap, and made it alot easier.

okay, i'll check into that. I checked prices on the actual 02 sensor and it is alot cheaper at pep boys. Usually auto zone is cheaper.

Re: Oxygen Sensor removal.
also... spray the sensor base with PB Blast and let it sit before trying to remove... exhaust stuff can be hard to get off sometimes
**DO NOT SPRAY ANYTHING ON THE NEW SENSOR!!! NOTHING!!**
