Cool Cooooold air intake

You know how in the early morning, when it's still kind of cold outside, you get in your truck, crank it up, get on the road and stomp it and it seems to just have gobs more power? I know its because of the cold air, and the engine's not warm yet to destroy this cold air. Well I want my truck to feel like this all the time..its a BIG difference. I was wondering, which air intakes will do this? I know that K&N is a big seller, very popular here, but what about Volant, and Brute Force? Which of these would anyone recommend getting?

Re: Cooooold air intake

I already have a Hypertech, and you are right, i am very satisfied with it. Also, if i do get the K&N kit, do I need to get just the open filter and heat shield, or the intake pipe also?

the K&N FIPK Generation 2 kit comes with everything (open element filter, shield, tube, plus all the hardware). I got it for my 4.8L for $175 and I love it. Very noticeable difference in power and acceleration is better, plus it sounds neat

Re: Cooooold air intake

Where in the world did you get it for that price? Everywhere I've looked is at least $225. Also, are throttle-body spacers worth the cost?

Re: Cooooold air intake

I'm still kind of wondering about the Volant system. Do you know anything about it?

Well first of all mashing your pedal to the ground early in the morning when your engine isnt warm is horibble for your engine. I have heard and understand that the volant works nicely because it taps into the sidewall where the air comes up. good design but i dont know from experience. K&N works great. Get a supercharger. lol you'll get the kick your lookin for.

I don't just crank it up and give it hell, my driveway is quite long, so everything has adequate time to circulate before I go and peg it. I've heard so many good things about the K&N system that I'm almost deciding to go with it.

The Volant system looks nice. I went with K&N system because ever since my first truck I've had a K&N filter in it. Go with what you know I guess.

I have several buddies that have bought the Volant, K&N and Brute Force. The Volant did not show any power increase nothing but a lot of hype. The K&N and the Brute Force are so close that you will not be able to tell the difference. I bought the AEM Brute Force because the K&N at that time was not available in a polished tube. It is really up to you, the filter on the AEM looks just like a K&N filter, in which it probably is with a different name on it. So just pick one and you should be satisfied.
