Toyota Trueno- Latest project (near completion)

Well, here is my latest Project. I have been working on it for a good couple of months and I am just waiting on some clearcoat, and maybe some Wax before completion. It is painted TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue, and the lower half/ window trim was brushed X-18 Semi-gloss black (I know, I shouldn't of brushed parts of the body, but I still don't have an airbrush.... ) I cut open the 2 front grills and used stretched sprue to try and create a more realistic looking grill.

The Interior was brushed XF-2 flat white and a Testors colour flat sky blue, with bits of XF-56 Metallic grey around the place. I decided to use the kit supplied racing seat with no passenger seat, but instead of putting the kit supplied nitrous oxide tank in the passenger seats place, I decided to put it in the back, and connected some rubber tubing from a tamiya 1/12 bike kit up to it. I also used bicarb soda as flocking to make it look like real carpet.

I used some wheels from a fujimi wheel set (I can't remember which?) and lowered both front and back. The rear was easily lowered simply by gluing in the parts the axle attach to upside down. The front was lowered by cutting the springs. I also made an exhaust out of straw and it is taped on in the pictures.

The kit supplied rear spoiler isn't on the car in the pictures, but that still needs to finish being painted, then stuck on before clearcoating. I will also most likely modify some brakes to fit as Fujimi didn't supply any .

Sorry about the pics, they don't really show the colour too well, the car doesn't look so black, really.

This is picture really shows the colour better

All comments and suggestions welcome

Paint, and sprinkle baking soda on the paint while it is wet. Use your finger to press it all down and leave it for a while (10-20 minutes, or until you think the paint would be dry) then tip all the excess off. Use a hair drier, and a brush to get the rest of the excess out.

After looking at the pictures, I can see some areas that need to be touched up.

The white areas around the decals will hopefully disapear after clearcoating (usually does)

Looks really good dude. I'm not sure about the rims though. IMO, I don't think that they really go with the car, but its your car, you can do what you want.

Very nice 86.
I want to ask 2 questions.
First, can you show some close up for the grille? It looks very real in the first pic.
Second, was the front lip just direct bolt on or did you have any fitment problem?
