Keyless entry

Does anyone know how to detect a keyless entry system on a 1996 XLT? Is there a fuse or control box in place that one can look for, or any other way to determine if it is installed? Is the "turn on & off 5 times in 20 seconds" the only way to check it out?

I think that is a simple enough ? to call a Ford Dealer ask them. At level worst they could tell you they don't know. Try it, what do you have to lose!

The easiest way in the explorer of that year is to switch the key from off to accessory position 5 times in less than 10 seconds. with the last turn keep the key in accessory position. if you have the keyless module installed the locks will activate (you will definitely hear it).

What do you mean by "keyless" entry?

Keyless entry is the remote FOB / keypad on door, factory installed to unlock doors remotely.

So, if someone had keyless entry, they SHOULD SEE it on the door then.
