Question More Power?

OK here is my story, I have an 03 silverado 4.8, I put dual exhaust with flowmasters on it. But i need more power..I was looking at the hypertech tuner, but if i did go with that would it be enough of a power gain to notice it? Or is there any other way to boost power, where i dont have to spend a ton of money?

Re: More Power?

Intake system, headers, electric fans, or just bite the bullet and get a used supercharger.

Re: More Power?

Intake should be your next step. At least that would be mine, then headers.

Hit up www.ebay.com

Just make sure you get a closed box system. The open ones may let more air in, but it will be hot air off the engine which won't help you.

Re: More Power?

I say, the open boxed ones are better, as long as they have a heat shield. AEM Brute Force has been good to me.

www.first-1.com

Only about $250 shipped.

Re: More Power?

Get new rear end gears. i put 4.56's on my truck with 33's and i was chirping 2nd gear with mudders!!! I have k&n intake, flowmaster 40 series, and hypertech. The gears made the truck feel like it has a supercharger, and i dont mind losing some top speed cause who wants to go 120 on the freeway anyways. drivetrainsuperstores sells cheap oem gears. there is a gear calculator on the site to help you decide what you want to get. it tells you your rpm at certain speeds with different gear ratios. You WILL be satisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like you want a "magic trick". Mods are cool of coarse, but expensive just for a few more ponies.

Here's something that is free......
-remove your seats
-remove your tailgate
-remove your spare
-remove your hood

that'll make it faster....... :-P

Re: More Power?

I have a Hypertech in my 99 Z71 5.3 and i noticed a tremendous difference. I've had it ever since i bought the truck, I tried un-programming the truck and driving it to save buying premium gas, but I don't like it that way, it feels weak.
