Replacing 96-98 dash w/ 99-00 dash

I've got a 98 Civic EX and it has those fuggin ugly slider control for the fan speed and hot/cold setting. What I want to do is replace that with a 99-00 Dash (has knobs YAY) but the only thing I'm wondering is...Is the 98 controls a physical cable or is it just a variable switch? I think it's just a variable switch...i'm going to look tonight but it would ease my mind if someone let me know before tongiht thanks all

I think you're gonna have to look to see if it has cables or wires. One easy way might be to stick your head under the dash by the blower motor assembly and see if there are cables running there, or you might have to take the controls out to see.

don't even try it. It's been asked on other boards (clubsi.com) and it just ain't worth it. You're going to have to replace just about everything regarding the dash and what's behind it.
