Question Help installing new back lock...

About three months ago, the handle broke off our back hatch lock, and then the key broke in the lock! Instead of going to a dealership, we chose to purchase the matching part hoping to be able to install it ourselves. However, we can't find any documentation on how to install this piece! If anyone can help, please post here or email me at [email protected].

Thank you

Re: Help installing new back lock...

From the manual....

Open liftgate
Remove liftgate trim panel.
Remove the liftgate handle molding.
Remove the retaining nuts from the lock cylinder .
Disconnect electrical connector, if equipped.
Remove lock cylinder from liftgate.

Hmmm, for some reason I don't think that helps too much... I will email you the illustrations to help you along.

Question

I am also looking for diagrams for the rear lock assembly.

Unfortunately we discovered a major flaw in the all fibreglass body - Security, there is none. We were broken into on vacation by simply prying the lock out through the Fibregalss panel.

If anyone has them please forward.

Thank you,

Thank you much for the diagrams LMF.

Do you happen to have anything that shows a detailed (exploded) view of the actual lock cylinder. I am trying to determine if I truley have all of the components.

Thank you once again for your help.

It probably came with out the pins for the keyway. The first time this happened to me, I removed the pins from the original cylinder and carefully swapped them over to the new one. I say carefully, because this is how your key will work. The second time I had to replace handle, the pins had all fallen out (I don't claim to be a locksmith, just someone trying to save a buck) and I brought it to a locksmith. I think it was $8. Call around.
