96 Ranger possible heater control valve problem
I have a 96 ranger with 80K miles that started leaking lightweight oil from what looks to be a valve on the heater hoses near the core. It only happens when the A/C is on or the fan control is set to off.
Is this the heater control valve, or what is the name of the part? It looks simple to replace so I figure I'll just head to the parts store, but want to get the right part. |

is that the one with vacuum hoses connected to it? if it is, that is the heater control valve.

Same Problem
I have the same problem on a '95 Ranger. The leakage is definately from the heater control valve and found that coolant sprays out when the engine is started and is cold AND the HVAC control is in 'OFF'. I've been avoiding the repair but intend to do it myself. Let me know how it goes for you.

Re: 96 Ranger possible heater control valve problem
The part was $17 at AutoZone, took me 10 minutes to fix it. Works great.
