Question bad mpg in metro

my geos mileage has gone down from 40-45 in town to about 32mpg any ideas why

A few things to check....

If its been a while since you tuned it up then go ahead and throw some new plugs/wires on it and check your timing. Next you might want to check out your ECT sensor to see if its reading properly - a bad ECT will butcher your MPG :O.

My 97 metro is the same way on a full tank of gas I only get around 150 miles I even had a full tune up done.

ive narrowed it down a little the mpg only drops when outside temp is below 20 degrees. then i lose around 10mpg

Colder air is more dense. Use turbo theory. More air, more gas. Just about any car will lose MPG when it gets really cold out. Cold air gives ya a few more hp though. That's where your gas is going. Try gettin some Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs.
