Hey all, my sister owed me like 50 bucks so I asked her to give my car an oil change while she was driving my car when I was on vacation. Instead she had her boyfriend do it for her. I end up coming back to a siezed car. He didn't put the oil plug back in and just left it like that.
I could've killed him. Anyway, I drive an 88 V6 Maxima, and he got ahold of a Maxima the generation after mine, I think it's a 91 or 92.Does anyone know if I can take this engine and switch it in. What do I have to change, motor mounts and anything else. Does it match up with the older tranny or do I have to take that out too. I want to hold onto the car I have, it only has 45,000 on the body. Any help is Greatly appreciated. |

Re: Engine Swap
Quote:
89 - 91 VG30E (GXE and SE trims) 160hp, 182 lb/ft 92 - 94 VG30E (GXE trim only) 160hp, 182 lb/ft 92 - 94 VE30DE (SE trim only) 190hp, 190 lb/ft So in essence, I don't think it is a direct swap. Of course anything can be done with enough money, but i suggest you sell that parts car you have or sell the parts (you'll get more that way) and buy a motor that is a direct fit....preferrably a rebuilt one with a solid warranty. It'll save you a lot of heartache eventually. Good luck :o) |
