Check the brake fluid it might be low. If it is you can add some to see if it kills the light. If this is the case you may be due for brake pads.

you might also want to check the switch on the parking break. there is a little switch near the handle/pedal that makes the light come on when the parking break is applied. also the spring that pulls the handle/pedal back when the break is released might need tightened, thus not moving it far enough to switch the light off
