e46 radio
I have a 1999 323i, and Iam installing a kenwood cd player, replacing the original business cassette player. When I connect the kenwood I get power but no sound, I do not have the antenna connected yet because I have not yet purchased an adapter, but I have a cd in and I think I should get sound out of the cd but I dont. There are 2 cables connected to the back of the original radio, 1 is for the antenna, I think cause it has AM etched on the outside of it. The other cable is black and I dont know what its for. When I reconnect my original radio, I get power but no sound UNTIL I connect this black cable. I dont know where to connect this black cable to the new kenwood. Any Help?

I have now purchased an antenna adapter and my new kenwood finds the local radio stations, but I still do not get any sound. I was incorrect on my earlier post with the wiring. The black cable is the antenna wire, and the metal cable that I described as saying AM, actually says AMP upon further inspection. The AMP cable I do not have connected to my kenwood, because I dont know where it connects. When I reinstall my factory radio I turn it on with everything connected and it plays fine, while it is playing I disconnect the AMP cable and it still keeps on playing like nothing happened. Does anyone know what this cable is for? Is this cable the problem with my kenwood not playing sound since its the amp wire? If so, why does my factory radio keep playing when I disconnect this AMP wire? Any help would be great.
