buying a 5th gen prelude, need some advice

I'm switching teams, for now. I need a decent reliable car with ok performance, thus now I'm in search of a 5th gen Prelude 2.0 liter (no fancy vtec $$)

The car I'm interested in is this:

140.000km on the counter
form 8-1998

I prolly could get it for 7000.- euros.

so what do you think?

it's missing the dimmer switch.

i'm not sure what 7000 euros translates into US dollars so i can't tell you if that's a good deal. other than that dimmer switch, the car looks in good shape.

Re: buying a 5th gen prelude, need some advice

that's crazy that a 5th gen lude comes with that motor. I too thought that it only comes with the h22a4. Anyways, this car will be slow as hell cus its on a heavy car. The Prelude is a sports car, this is more like an accord heart in a heavy weight prelude body. NOT WORTH IT

yea i wouldnt do it....the engine is way under powered, and seems tad bit over priced, plus seems to have a bit more miles than id expect

The 2.0i Prelude is really not thaaat slow. It needs about 9.0 seconds from 0-100km/h (~0-60mph) and topspeed is about 203km/h (about 126mph). I used to have a 4th gen (before my current 5th gen VTEC) with this engine and it beats most other similar cars...

But I agree with you guys that the H22A is the more perfect engine for the Prelude! But at the end it will all depend on the money....

if you do buy it, please put the front and rear wheels the same direction. that bothers me.

yeah, the back right rim belongs on the left side of the car. dangerous if you have the tires rotating the wrong way.

SOHC prelude motor

I think it is an OK motor that is reliable(Honda) you'll get a lot better mileage and all of us with h??a's.

hey rubix777, I have my tires facing all the same way like the back tire in that picture, is this bad or what? I just like the way it looks all facing back.

the back right tire looks like it's spiraling counter-clockwise while the front is spiraling clockwise. there's nothing wrong with making the rims spiral in opposite directions, but if the tire is designed to spin counter-clockwise, but you have it on the right side of the car, then it would be spinning backwards. Here's a pic of my rims and the recommended rotation direction I'm talking about.
