Re: Keyless Entry!

Consult your Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealership service department. I'm sure they can help. They shouldn't charge you too much, if they charge you at all.

I bought a keyless entry and checked all the websites and advice and they were all wrong. We called the Lincoln/Mercury dealer and they would program it for $5. Seemed fair.
He had to short some pins on the unit in the trunk to program it and the unit wasn't there. Turns out, my Cougar was not equipped for keyless entry!!I should have checked closer before buying the remotes on ebay. Anybody need a mote for a 96? I don't know the entire procedure for programming but it involves doing something to the receiving unit in the trunk.

Thumbs up remote keyless entry

I found the way to program remotes in my Ford Taurus manual. This may or may not work for you. Have remote ready. Put key in ignition switch, turn from on to off {without starting vehicle} quickly 8 times. After the 8th time, the doors will lock. QUICKLY push one of the buttons on the remote. Repeat for any other remote. GOOD LUCK. Bill

Re: Keyless Entry!

These instructions will work on Thunderbird / Cougar models, 93 - 97:

Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR quarter panel area. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

I have these remotes available in my Ebay store.
