Unhappy flood water engine

I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan that I attempted to take through some flood water today I almost made it through when it stalled on me... I tried to restart it and it did fire up... then died again a few seconds later... there is water in the oil and the engine will not even turn over now... it sounds as if the starter is frozen up but I'm not sure.... I drained the oil out of it.... anymore ideas... anyone????

Thank You

Dry out the starter really well or replace it. Change the oil and add a product called Risoline. It will clean any dirt and foreign (water) liquid build-up out of the motor. Run the new oil/Risoline mix for a few days and then change the oil and filter again. That should do the trick unless you have another problem related to the water.

Re: flood water engine

Can you turn the engine by wrenching on the crankshaft pulley? If you sucked water into the intake, through to the cylinders, you may have hydraulic'd the engine.
That could be bad, bent rods, etc.

If you washed all the oil from the cylinder the rings can stick to the cylinder wall. I had a motor that had not been started in several years. I turned it by hand using a socket on the harmonic balancer bolt. It turned very easy for about two revolutions and then locked up. I removed all spark plugs and sprayed wd40 into the cylinders. This made it turn very easy again. I then squirted oil into the cylinder. I installed the motor and it fired up with no problems. Let me know how it turns out.
