Re: HP on a 91 Talon

depends on the motor that's in it, how many miles and any performance upgrades.

Re: HP on a 91 Talon

What top speeds have you reached? I ask because a buddy of mine doesn't believe they can go 140mph. Anyone want to say what their 2.0L had reached?

Re: HP on a 91 Talon

im not sure about the 1g talon, however the 2g talon, in some countries such as us/canada, chips "MAY" be entered to regulate the top speed of vehicles, however my 96 talon had no restrictors, or it was removed before i buy it. The highest i've reached is 258 km/h on a perfectly clear highway in summer.

I believe that many talons can reach 140 mph, however many tune ups and safety percautions have to be taken. Car has to be lowered as much as possible, very stable tires, and an overall check of the engine before this is done.

HES RIGHT...they CAN'T hit 140 [2.0l NT] as the HP isnt enough to overcome wind and drag resistance, not to mention in a dead stock one, with the stock tires they would probably blow out on the way to those speeds and you'd be fucked.

The specV which has 175hp, and 180lbft of torque cant hit 140, due to wind resistance and its CD[ co effiecient of drag]....Its geared to a max speed of 157mph but it needs mods to give it enough HP to reach those speeds.

Re: HP on a 91 Talon

My 1992, non turbo, 2.0, has hit 130 mph. Bone stock. It isn't a chip that regulates speed, it is horsepower that limits it.

BTW, don't know about 2G talons, but 1G came with high speed tires. They can handle well over the speed anyone would ever get the car up to.

Re: HP on a 91 Talon

cars that come with low speed rated tires have a speed regulater in the ecu to keep it from going faster then the stock tires can handle. but its easy to get rid of on most cars you just cut out a resistor from the circuit board you just have to find the right one.

Re: HP on a 91 Talon

With just a 92 talon, they probably can reach 140 stock. I am not saying I was actually going 140, but that is just what my speedometer said when the car redlined. I dont know for sure since I was not clocked. I do know that speedometers are usually less accurate at higher speeds but transmissions tend to slip more when the hp and speed are at thier peak. Maybe I should have driven by a cop so I could tell how fast I was going. I recently bought a 97 eclipse, standard, and I can tell you for sure they can reach 130 no problem since that is what my ticket said.
