Thinkin about gettin my hatch painted black

Hi,

I got this 88 Hatch STD and it needs a paintjob as most of the light blue paint has faded pretty bad. However there are no major dents or sctraches only a few here and there. I am thinking of taking my car and getting it painted for like 300-400 like I did with my 4G4D.
I got it painted white from the brown it came with.
I want the hatch to be painted a black but i read somewhere that everything will show. All the dents and scratches.
But I mean im not that big on looks, i like something to look clean.
Would it be ok to get it painted black? I dont mind if a few dents show as long as from a distance you cant see it. Thanks

well 400 is pretty cheap for a paint job so...was it a good job on your 4dr im curious, the black should be fine if you dont treat your car like shit or drive on shitty roads n stuff like that

Yea, I got my 4dr painted the Pearl White they had.
They had 4 different types of paint options to choose.
I got option #3 the 400 dollar one.
Option one was only like 150 bucks, #2 was about 225, etc.
I got the car painted back in the beginning of March.
So far it went through the whole HOT summer we have in Florida and seems to still be good. I have a one year guarantee on it.

Go for it. I got my brown hatch painted black about 8 monthes ago for $350 at Maaco (Hey I needed a cheapy cause brown wasn't cutting it) and no paint chips or signs of fading or anything yet. I got a year warranty too. Black is phat but once you wash your car it gets dirty by the next day. It looks clean at night and right after you wash it though!

I think black looks hella clean.... the only problem is how hard it is to keep it clean, everything shows!

Yea, I got the whole car painted cause brown just looks bad on our 4th gens.
I didnt get the door jams or engien bay painted, it was about 100 bucks for each door jam. So on a four door it was another 400 bucks.
I might of got them painted if I had a hatch.
Im pretty sure im gonna get it black cause I like the clean look it gives a car.

Re: Thinkin about gettin my hatch painted black

After detailing cars for many years, I'd say black is the ultimate color for a perfect car. Any body damage will show ten times more than any color when polished correctly. Taking care of black is a pain, so much that I will never own a jet black car, maybe a metalic black like BMW's cosmos. I've never seen a cheap jet black paint job look good without hours of wet sanding & polishing.
