Stereo and lights don't work...
I bought a new cd player for my 1996 Corolla as a Thanksgiving present for myself! In my excitement, I forgot to disconnect the battery (I know, stupid me!). I was disconnecting the wires and was proceeding to pull the old receiver out, when I hear a quick snap sound and saw a little smoke. The red and the yellow wires had touched each other. I quickly separated them, reconnected all the wires to the old system and tried it; it did not work. I then found out that the indicator lights stopped working, the "door open" and seatbelt lights (on the dashboard) and the overhead cabin light did not turn on either. The dashboard light itself works though, it's just those two lights mentioned above on the indication panel that did not show up. I replaced the radio fuse hoping it would do the trick, the rest of the fuses seemed to be okay. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what I landed myself into!

Re: Stereo and lights don't work...
Thanks mic720... It was a fuse in the fuse box under the hood. Just thought I'd update the thread for anyone else who's experiencing this problem. If you are experiencing some of the problems I had, then it could be a fuse in the diver's side kick panel.
