New Wiring??

Hey everybody, I'm replacing all the factory speakers and head unit in my 97 x cab and i was wondering if i have to replace all the wiring or can i just hook'em up? Also, does chevy have any kind of hidden amps, and would i have to bypass them? Please help, James

From what I have seen, GM has always used pretty thick wires for their stereos. You should be able to just use the stock wires for a mild deck with no external amps. As fas as stock amps go, you would want to by-pass it. There is usually a seperate amp for stock decks, but they only put out a few Watts per channel.
