Question CEL Question

On my 91 DX Sedan, the CEL comes on occasionally when driving. More so lately. It always goes off after the car is turned off and sits for a minute or two, and doesn't come on again for days (at least). It seems to be running fine.

I checked the indicator light, and it flashes once every 1-2 seconds. Is this the "normal operation", or is the O2 sensor going bad?

Thanks.

well, it could be a fault somehwere with your wiring, our cars dont have a progressive fault detector system like an OBD equppied vehicle does, but replace ur o2 anyway, its prolly like 10yrs old.

I've had that same problem since I got my h/b (almost 4 years ago). You're getting a code 1 (O2 sensor), like you mentioned. I replaced mine & still have the problem...

Though now that I have an a/f ratio gauge, as long as I keep the car from running rich (while I'm driving) I don't get the CEL.

another thing you may want to check out.

its been raining alot here the last 2 weeks. while i was on my delivery job, i ran through a deep puddle and about 10 mins later i got a o2 sensor cel.

try removing the "ecu" fuse in your engine bay fusebox for 15 seconds. this will reset the ecu. if you get the same cel again, i would replace the o2 sensor. make sure you get a honda o2, it DOES make a noticeable difference.

It's one fast flash, right? Because that's a code 1. One long flash is a code 10, which is the IAT sensor. probably the O2 tho.

Re: CEL Question

Thanks.

It's the original o2 sensor for sure. I've had the car since ~40k miles. It's now at 180k . The car is w/ my stepson. I'll replace it when I can.

One more questions. I haven't replaced the spark plugs in about 100000000000000 miles. Are they fused to the head by now? I didn't use anti-seize and I don't want to break them off.
