Question Engine Coolant

I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT, my resevoir for my engine coolant is too low to determine what type of coolant it uses. Does anyone know what type i should refill the resevoir with? Or what type of coolant came from the factory?

thanks

It Takes Dexcool You Can Get Anywhere But I Might Take To The
Dealership Because There Is A Recall On Alot Of The 3.8l Motors Around That Year For Coolant Loss.(they Replace The Bolts On The Throtlle Body).

There is DexCool(that is what was installed on the factory) but also there is one from Valvoline(I forgot the name, but is a gray bottle and will say 50,000 miles coolant. It is exactly the same thing as the DexCool).

2001CAV, does that recall applied to other years as well?

Re: Engine Coolant

Hi, I'm from the Blazer forum. Trying to help the girlfriend sort out some problems with her car. Found another post regarding water leaking in to the cabin passenger side being caused by no cabin air filter, will be installing one tonight.

The moisture coming in doesn't smell like coolant, but when I checked her coolant it was WAY low. I'm going to check her VIN tonight to see if she is within this recall. On the Blazers the eighth digit is the engine type letter, is that the case on the GPs? She has an '02 and I believe the 3.8L. If she is within the recall will I be able to take her car to any GM dealership and have them do the work?
