you can find anything form few hundred dollar beater, to thousands for restored, dependiing on where you live, if you live south or west then you should be able to find a bunch for good deals original unmodified. i love novas but hate the leaf rears, that is the only bad thing about them, need to put chevelle suspension under a nova and then really have it good :d or just find a chevelle

Re: is a nova a good car to soup up for a 16 yr old?

Nova is smaller and lighter than chevelle, good for go fast car. Many easy and cheap mods out there. They were pron to floor board rust. The frame does not run full length of the body and my require mod if you plan to really torque it. All in all the nova is a great car for building. What ever you can think of doing to a Nova has already been done by someone so info is easy to come by also. Have fun and be safe!

buy one in good condition with a slow engine so that you don't kill yourself. Besides, its a lot easier and more fun to repair the engine than the rest of the car. Try to get one with disc brakes.

Re: is a nova a good car to soup up for a 16 yr old?

I totally agree. My first car was a 71 nova with a stock 307 in it. It had plenty enough pick up for a first car. This may not be the best example, but i saved my money for about 2 years and dropped a 350 crate motor in it and a new set of 373 gears... within a month i had the car parked into a brick wall... so ya, they can be made fast, just be sure your ready for it to go fast...

yes they are very good, i am 16 and have a 73 nova with the 350 custom engine. Since we have pulled the 2 parrel and intake manifold and replaced with an edelbrok performer RPM mani and 4 barrel carb, and i love toasting all the ricers at my schhol. get a nova, and whatever you do, dont buy a honda.

yes a good nova is a great car for a 16 year old. i just bought a 74 hatchback with a strong 350 crate motor. it will through you back in your seat when you get on it. just be sure to get one with disk brakes or you will have to do a break swap and it is no fun. my nova will smoke tires like no tommorow and beat those little rice burners.

68 nova

nova's rock. I am 17 and i have a 68 nova that had a six and i put a gm performance 350 in it (not the Gm goodwrench crap). It runs good. I just got duel flowmasters with 2 1/4 pipes. I have raced three ricers and won. None of the rest will race me too scared. I have to race muscle cars now. Runs 8.5s on 1/8

Yea dude, I just bought a 1968 Nova, Inline 6, I dont need anything super fast right now, my nova only has 2 gears and a PowerGlide Tranny, which is tight. Later on ill definatly drop a V-8 and maybe one of those Turbo 400 Trannies, I dont know how good those are though. WILL SEE!
