Re: Re: plz help out an integra newbie....

guys, the type r wasn't built to go fast in a straight line, it was made to speed around an auto-x track. so don't make it the bench-mark of straight-line speed. its decently quick, but nothing special.

spec, the type r comes w/ 25 hp more than gsr (195/170) and the tranny in 1st/2nd are the same as the gsr, but the 3rd gear is different.

the type r does come w/ ac (in us, canada it doesn't.) no sun roof (its basically the rs frame) and is only around 30 some odd lbs lighter.

the 97-98 didn't have a/c nor sunroof to help reduce weight whereas the newer type-r's came with a/c. as a standard option.

bah, picky picky...thought he was simply talking about the newest (i swear u simply to have find something wrong w/ every post i make, even though nothing was wrong w/ this one... )

in good ol' canada, they never came w/ ac, not even as an option.

the 2nd gen gsrs' (92-93) are the fastest of the gsrs. they came w/ the b17a motor and in a lighter base (lil over 2500 lbs compared to mid 2600's).

get wut year u'd like. the type r was introduced to the US in 97, and ended in 01.

from 94-97 there was the 1st 3rd gen integra (old style tail/head lights and bumpers.) from 98-01, the teg's came w/ the more agressive styled front/rear bumpers, and the all red (except for the reverse lights) tails.

they all came w/ the 4 circle style head lights, there were jus subtle differences (along w/ different rims).

I was giving him a general idea mr Kr. Anyways, just about any car can be made to beat another, especially with the differences between the itr and gsr. IM sure you've all seen the twin turbocharged-engined automatic tiburon which ran off of methanol? for 2-3 gs you can easily smoke a stock type r. Basic bolt ons, not top of the line, but decent for like $5-700. Actuiall,y dcs for 220, skunk2 for 500, and aem ram for like 80. so $800 for a pretty good setup. 2200, can get you nitrous easily or maybe pretty close to a turbo setup installed.

BTW, the type r in this thread is the benchmark that he wants to beat. Why'd you get a type r KrNx? just curious

tran...i hate u...

ah, back to topic. i was simply pointing out that it SHOULDN'T be a bench-mark for his car. it wasn't supposed to go fast in a straight line, so its really not saying much (to me atleast) to be able to smoke a type r in a straight line. yeah, its respectable, but like u said spec, it doesn't take much to run w/ them. take my gsr for example, 14.8 w/ only simple bolt's and on the street, i'd beat a stock one 90 percent of the time (driver's race really.)

i got the type r, because i love the integra line, but i needed an upgrade. therefore the r seemed like the logical step from the gsr. i'll start gettin into auto-x a lot more now (i'd like to if i have time atleast), and this car has only 28k compared to 120k on the motor. plus, i don't really have the time/money to fix/build anything, so it seemed to be a fine base for me. quick enough, yet will get me from point a-b everyday w/ out worry.
