Window Problem....Help!

The driver side window on my wife's Beetle rolls down fine enough, but on the way up, it gets very difficult about half-way. It feels like the handle might snap because of the strain, and it also rubs the weatherstripping off. The window is obviously out of whack. I'm going to take it to the shop to fix it, but it's brought up a question to me.

What would I need to do to change from manual to power windows? I assume two switches, two motors, and the necessary wiring harness. What else am I missing, and how much can I expect this to cost if I do it myself (if that's even possible)? I've seen motors for under $200 and switches for under $30, so I'm hoping it's at least possible.

Thanks in advance.
