1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula 403, transmission question?

A hose that is on the line that goes from the transmission to the radiator just popped out and my trany fluid leaked out. (big mess). Now i got it back in and was wondering how much of trany fluid do I need to put into my 3-gear auto trany for a 403 engine? I put in about 3 pints and it was extemely overfilled, but when I started it, all of it went down and I checkd and did not have a leak. I was just wondering how many pints am i going to need in order to fill it up?

P.S. I just thought i ask instead of risking it and overfilling it.
