Dashboard Right Turn Signal Light/ABS Light Question...

Hi

For the past few days, I've noticed that when I've put my right turn signallight on ABS light also comes on and it stays on until I put it in park and turn off the ignition. What could be the problem? Could this be an electrical problem where the turn signal light and abs light somehow the sensors are crossed or something? Has anyone else had the same porblem as I have? This is a 96 cavalier with a 2.2 engine with a 141,000 kms. Any or all feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rokhill

I would appreciate a response if anyone replies.

The ABS light on my '96 cav has been coming on for the past week. Like yours, it stays on 'til the car is shut off. Not sure if it has anything to do with the turn signal light although they are next to eachother. Maybe I'll try doing left hand turns only and see if it doesn't come on. That would be strange if it were true that it's only on right turns.

My 99 cavalier started doing this too! GRRRRR!!! Only when the right hand turn signal is engaged and I turn the steering column any slight bit to the right...if I am parked and engage the right hand turn signal it is ok. Is it a sensor problem? Has there been a service bulletin on this sort of problem arising? Has anybody had any success in resolving this? If so at what cost?

Battery possibly? A co-worker of mine drives an expedition and her airbag light would come on and her guages would go all the way to the right then reset and work properly when her battery was going dead. Maybe this is the cavy's warning?

I have not found a resolution to the problem. Before the ABS light problem, the check engine light would always come on after driving about 15 miles. It ended up being a bad catalytic converter. The brake pads and shoes were replaced at that time and now the back end of the car drops and the brakes lock up when pressing the brake pedal. I had that problem on my 1992 Cavalier after the rear brake shoes were replaced and have seen similar problems mentioned on this forum. I will never purchase a Cavalier again.
