Revelation

Do you realize how many people talk about getting an SR blah blah blah and dont follow through?

Its pretty funny, it happened at my school, some kid got a 240, then he sold it cuz "it was slow". He thought theyde be a mad tyte dorifto monster, but then he got a taste of KA24E power. HAHAHAHA

Re: Revelation

I think that people just follow what's new and popular.

If you'll remember back to about a year ago or so then you will see how many people wanted S15 front ends on their 240. That was the popular thing to do back then. That trend has pretty much died off. There are still a couple of slow special children who are just now catching on and they are wanting it, but the amount of people who want it these days is nowhere near what it was a year or so ago.

Next was the SR craze. This has been an ongoing thing for about 2 years or so. IMO 240's just became popular a couple of years ago. Everybody, including myself at one point wanted an SR20 in their 240. This is because it was the cool/popular thing to do.

Now, I think the trend has moved onto the KA-T setup. I think most of this started when people found out about duy running his 10.83 in the quarter. It seems like now I see more people talking about wanting to turbo their KA rather than getting the SR.

I'm not bashing anybody or putting any of these setups down, I just think that most people follow trends.

I think thats true too. I use to want a SR but now i hope to have a RB20 in my 240 someday...seems alot of people are goin for the RB25 but i'm not trying to get 500hp out of my car so why waste the money..right?

I'll admit I wanted an SR for awhile, but that was before I knew an RB would even fit into a 240. I also thought the SR was some amazing 4 cylinder when really I would say it's equal to the CA and KA in many ways and even though it may have some things it does better at...it also has a lot of shortcomings. Then for awhile I wanted an RB25...and even more a 26 because the thought of a mini skyline was mind-blowing. Now I still want an RB25...but KA-T seems more practical and much better suited for my budget and driving conditions.

I guess I don't need 500hp...but I do still want it

I still want a SR20det. The ka, with its relatively long stroke will never be a good track engine. I need something with a fat top end, not something that runs out of breathe at 5500rpm. Hell, I would even take a SR20DE over the KA - at least the DE can be made into a high-revving NA. The rb engines are pretty slick, though parts for those are too expensive and rare to consider them for anything but occaisional usage.
