ford escort 1995 problem

Hi, I have a weird problem with my M reg escort.

Whenever I lock the car a sound appears as if the indicator is on. and then
red light next to the clock starts flashing and doesnt stop (the indicator
sound does)

The clicking sound also starts when I turn on the ignition and the light
dtays red for a minute or so and then flashes.

This isnt a huge problem but when I dont drive for a while it actually wears
down the battery

When I unlock the car the light goes off.

Also the button that opens the boot (by the hand brake) doesnt seem to work
when the light flashes. and the demister sometimes doesnt work

Do i have a problem with the electrics?

If so I think its a bit weird that when I unlock the car it all seems ko
again till I lock it again
