Mercury Villager got me stumped
Long story short. Returned from deployment. 1997 Mercury Villager had almost dead battery. I got a jump start the correct way and it started right up. Now, drove to house, shut off the car and did not try to start again until next morning. Well, you guessed it batt almost dead again. i attempted another jump start but it did not want to play. Here are the symptoms. Engine cranks fine, no fuel pump running with key on, blown fuse labeled Eng Cont, fuse has system voltage on one side and grounded out on the other. All relays work as advertised. Now the real poop. I am getting no spark from the wires at all. When I tested all the components all check out good for continuity where it is supposed to be except for a couple of items. Ignition control module is not getting continuity from any of the three prongs. Okay thats bad. Ignition switch is getting cont where it is not supposed to in two different spots in the on position and 1 spot on the start position. Not real sure about that being bad. Did i mention that the fuse blows the minute i turn the key to on. I know that it is in the circuit with the fuel pump because I jumped it for split second and fuel pump came to life. Does any one have any suggestions at all. I only have week at most to get this thing up and running. Thanks for hearing me out.

Re: Mercury Villager got me stumped
Sounds from your read like a dead--or close to dead short in the fuel pump. If there is a OB2 code and you can read it--I would--If no code and you can read a short across the fuel pump circuit that would make me think FP. Only a shade tree degree and my unspecific knowledge on autos of all kinds make this diagnosis--
