I've read the FAQ, but still have questions.

Do you need a license for Solo1?

Do they always use the same track layout for Solo2? Do they use old track layouts that they've used before?

Can I just go early to an event, sign up on the spot, and run my car when my class is goin like in road racing?

Do any solo1 events take place on closed public roads...where I can go practice the course if there's no event goin on?

Are solo1 courses like canyon roads?

Do you need a license for Solo1? - a driver's liscense, yes, you normally need all the fireproof stuff too. the car has more requirements, i.e. rollbar, fire ext., fuel cell, etc.

Do they always use the same track layout for Solo2? Do they use old track layouts that they've used before? - no! ocasionally they will re-use old layouts from nationals for a local event (as, not everyone is a national competitor) variety is what helps make solo2 so great.

Can I just go early to an event, sign up on the spot, and run my car when my class is goin like in road racing? - sometimes, but you also run the risk of going and there not being openings.

Do any solo1 events take place on closed public roads...where I can go practice the course if there's no event goin on? NO! NEVER! there used to be hillclimbs, but... lawyers, police... lack of sponsership has forced these events into the realm of memory only (at least locally). solo1 usually takes place on a road couse, everyone practices in groups, but the timed session is solo.

How many runs do I get? depends on what club and part of the country you are in. in solo2 i've gotten anywhere from 3 to 20 runs in a day

This one is the bay bottom Crawl and its considered a SoloII event but it is hella fast a friend in a Factory 5 Cobra was running at speeds over 130MPH in sections of this. It is not for the faint of heart one bad move and you will end up in the Gulf of Mexico.

Look for your local SoloI venues. Have you considered the Porsche BMW club of America? They have a driving school and once you are signed off on you can enter races. Or you can just do open track days with limited passing in the straights and less chance of swapping paint.
