Unhappy Hey 240 guys I need your help

Ok, so heres the deal I was planning on buying a 240sx anyway...but some old dude crashed into me today destroying my car. So heres my delema I found a few 240sx's only 2 I really like. ones ..in not so good condition but not super bad condition both but a 5spd, the other is mint but a auto...what do you guys suggest. And how hard is it to convert a 240 auto to manual?.

oh yeah do you think there would be any down sides to the conversion, also how much do you think it'd run me?

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

Well, lets think either take the bad one and spend the money on fixing it. or buy the good one and spend the same amount or more on trying to convert the thing. I have heard that converting a 240sx from auto to a manual is a b**ch... the parts dont line up and you have to drill knew holes and weld and a bunch of crap. It will either cost alot for a pro or a lot of back break to do it... honestly, autos arnt so bad.

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

i suggest the 5speed...interior is easier to fix than a tranny swap..

i did the trans swap in my old s14 and it was a bitch. shops will do it for you for sometimes (if youre lucky) under $500 if youre doing an engine swap along with it..

just go stick, live will be easier man, you have my word

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

btw: expect to pay upwards of $1,500 for an auto->manual swap if youre having a shop do it for you..

if you plan on doing it all yourself, theres a guy that got all his parts for around $700...he was EXTREMELY lucky.if you get all the parts from a dealer, expect to pay $3-4k (parts alone)...if youre a junkyard picker expect around $1,500-2,000 range. either way, its always nicer to start out with stick, i learned the hard way.

hope this info helps

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

I was thinking the stick to...but a mint, black 240sx is pretty hard to come by around here. One more thing I'm concearned about..handling in rain..after today I think I want to be done with wrecks...how's the 95's + handle.

I'v wanted a 240sx to be my track car, but now I need a daily driver is it good for that? Dont mean to ask so many questions but I want to get on the road again pretty soon.

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

no, theyre unreliable, very few have lsd, underpowered, arent good for drag racing....there are many more cons to list.

so not all-around, but i like the 240sx...

i loved all my s14s.

Re: Hey 240 guys I need your help

I see...ick I knew there would be some negitives but wow, I'll still probably end up buying a 240 simply because I'm not currently attracted to anything else right now. The torque numbers look nice for that stock engine thou...guess thats nice. I guess zex kit should do me well.
