Lots and LOTS of problems.

George...... Any chance I can stop by in a weekend or so to take a look? Car is pissing me off.

Anyways... Here's a list of my problems. I've found some solutions on se-r.net, but those are with really crappy instructions. Where the hell is the TPS sensor anyways? ... Which connector do i disconnect from AAC valve to see if idle is set?....... Lots of others.

Here's a list of problems I sense with my car so far...

1-BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD MILAGE. 18mpg and lowering for some reason...
Cause: Maybe Blocked EGR Tube/Valve? How do i clean these?
O2 sensor was replaced less than a month ago.
Maybe bad plugs or dirty injectors? I use injector cleaner though......

2- Erradic Idle. EGR is causing this probably. Idle was NOT set correctly when i sent it into Infiniti to get AAC replaced. When i got the car back, it idled at a wonderful 1500RPM. Great... @#$@#*)( YOU INFINITI. I turned the AAC screw a bit, lowered it to about 950. I still suspect the idle is not set correctly. Where the hell is the Throttle Position Sensor anyways? I need to set idle....... Se-r.net instructions are pretty lacking in detail.

3- Cruise not working. Probably the ASCD Actuator/pump. Not too worried about this. Cruise is for long distance only, anyways. Maybe i'll test it later when i get access to a FSM.

4- Exhaust is choking/backfiring a bit.... or it souunds like it. I rev it up to arouund 3k or so..... and let the gas off. The exhaust quiets down, meanwhile making little put noises. Is this normal?

5- I can't even see where my EGR Valve is. Its not on top of the throttlebody. Nothing is. Picture doesn't do much for me .... Do i need carb cleaner to gunk this ?

6- Fuel meter is way off. After driving 40 or so miles. its down to 3/4. Then jumps up a bit after i wait overnight or something... then drops down fast etc etc. Very erradic. Probably something to do with bad fuel milage.

If anyone has any input on this, email me or just reply.

I won't be here. I'm going out of town for business this weekend and next weekend I'll be in Dallas.

You know what? I think it might behoove you to plan a trip to Dallas and go to Throttle Position Motorsports. They can put the car on the Consult and work through various issues. They are Nissan experts. TPM is run by Vince McCurley who used to be the parts guy at Courtesy. Plan on making a weekend of it and you're all set.

You right. It is a teeeeeny bitsy problem.

What's wrong with a trip to Dallas to get it done right without being changed an arm and two legs to deal with a dealer tech who probably doesn't know crap?

TPM has a Consult and can probably fix you right up.

Or you can spend hundreds at the dealer.

Hey P10DET, do you have the address and phone number to TPM?
If not, do they have a website?

Wellll geo.... i know your gone during weekends but i'll post here anyways

I got my car checked on some consult sort of thing.. guessing its the same :

Nothing showed up. No EGR cloggage nothing. O2 working fine.

While the mech was in there, he cleaned the injectors... quite dirty after 72k miles ya know? Car running a bit cleaner now..... But the milage is still crappy. I'll cheeck how it improves next fillup and keep everyone posted. Thanks for the help!

Me thinks you were ripped off.

First of all, the mech can't really clean the injectors worth a crap. Second, our injectors generally don't need cleaning due to their design.

Vince McCurley is the owner. Tell him I sent you.

He's a good guy and used to be the parts guy when he was at Courtesy. James Vick works for Vince and he's been around the SR20 quite a bit too and even owns one.

Vince is hoping to install a Dynojet in the spring. We'll also be holding a Texas Rally there soon.

BTW, I don't think the Consult can tell if the EGR tube is clogged.

Question is..... Is a clogged EGR tube/valve enough to cause a 10 MPG decrease?
