Loss of power under load, 1992 SSE

Please reply even if different model year. I have SSE with 3800 non- supercharge engine.

Problem: Check engine light comes on after sitting overnight. Goes off and stays off after restarting. Acts like trans is slipping or too much/too little gas (looses power after 3200 RPM). If I back-off and accelerate moderately (under 3000 RPM) you would never know there was a problem.

Note: Problem gradually goes away and car drives normally for most of the rest of the day. Occasionally will be driving normally and "BAM" it's like you hit a switch and acts-up with loss of power just as decribed above.

This turned out to be a diagnostic code 42 problem. had to replace the ECM (computer) and the ignition module.

Re: Loss of power under load

Did that clear up the symptoms?
