Swap a d15 4 a d16?

I have a U.S. spec '95 s with a d15b7 and an auto. Need I say more? I'm stationed in Europe so parts aren't easy to come buy and I can't buy another del Sol for a few months. So basically I'm S.O.L. on more power. Does anyone know if the tranny on a d16z is the same as the tranny on a d15? I can get a d16 in good condition for next to nothing. The only other problem is that that engine is off of a '93 civic 5 spd. If I do get the d16 off the manual car what are the odds (and neccessary equipment and parts) that it'll work with my exisiting tranny?

the D16 block came automatic, and the parts are dirt cheap. It's called a mini-me swap when you swap a D15 non VTEC block for a D16 VTEC block. With an auto, the problem is that you're probably not gonna get too much more power. Does the d16 block off the civic come with a tranny? If so, definitely do a manual conversion while you're at it. Makes life a lot easier, and you get the full power out of that engine. (there is a life past redline )

I totally agree with SolGirl, however, if money is a problem right now, you could just put a D16 head on the D15. That way you get your VTEC, which will help a little. But like she said, you're really not going to get much more power. Since you're in Europe, start looking around for Importers. Get yourself either a UK spec, or a J spec B series with a 5 spd. You'll thank me in your prayers!

Sell it and buy a DOHC VTEC powered car. That simple
