Red face Aftermarket parts for 98 Mercury Grand Marquis?

There aren't many people on the Mercury forum so...

I just bought this 98 LS. What should make sure is running really well?

Anyone have pics of a homemade intake? I might just take a 3" tube and direct it under the car for a cheap CAI.

This car is VERY quiet. I want dual exhaust, and I want to hear the V8! Any pics of exhaust on a CV or GM?

How many psi should I run my stock (225/60/16) tires? I know I might have a different idea of optimum psi, but where should I start? People say I love my turns so...

Anyone got anything for sale that I could use on this car?

thanks

Try checking out www.crownvic.net if you dont find anything here. I had an 2.25 inch H pipe with flowmaster 40's on my 98 with stainless 3 inch outlets, got lots of positive comments. I'll try to dig up a pic or two.....

I would put a Maurader air box on, and get a chip for your car.

Re: Aftermarket parts for 98 Mercury Grand Marquis?

DO check out the www.crownvic.net link, you'll have an ENDLESS supply of ideas of stuff to do to your 98.

Here's what I did to my 92, at least mechanically:

Gears - 3.73's for increased acceleration rate.

Shocks - Bilsteins to get rid of the pillow ride, and so I could corner at high(er) speeds.

Addco Swaybars - allowed me to stay flat in those high speed corners

Polyurethane bushings all around - because of the watts linkage in your 98, you'll only be able to do the front, but it stiffens everything up nicely, so you can uh, have better handling response.

Flowmaster mufflers - didn't like not being able to hear the car either! Does your 98 have dual exhaust, or a Y pipe? If it's a Y, you can get the missing side from any junked 92-02 CV/GM, slap some flowmaster 40's on it and you'll be listening to real music.

Wheels - I put some simple 17" Mustang Cobra wheels on, with fat 255/50/17 tires. She was a beauty.

And, that only scratches the surface. There's guys with superchagers, nitrous, and all sorts of crazy stuff. Check it out.

Kevin.
