Mercedes CLK-DTM

I bought it today (D2 team)
There is a carbon fiber parts on the pictures (air intake and dashboard)
And mesh included. How to use it?
Airbrush thru mesh on bare plastic or paint plastic in black before?

Here is Tamiya's explanation...

http://www.tamiya.com/english/howto/car1/tip1.htm

...but you might be better off getting a sheet of c/f decal instead. Their method seem really easy to mess up, and if you do, you're screwed.

And are you sure the mesh isn't for the grilles?

According to assembling scheme it's for front grille

BUT:
it also mentioned on Tamiya's site where is about carbon fiber:

* Mesh included in products such as 1/24 scale rally car line-up.

Yeah... I assume they mean spare leftover mesh.

So it doesn't have c/f decals on the decal sheet?

there is no such decal. mesh is quite big for front grille,
but too small for painting purposes
But there is masking seals for windows!!!

If the model in question is Tamiya No. 24234, then the mesh is supplied for use on the front grill (see attached scan from instructions).

The current UK issue of Tamiya Model Magazine (Dec/Jan 01/02) has an 8-page build on this model (including some detail shots of the real vehicle), and deals with simulating CF using Tamiya Colours X-1 and various metallics (in this case, X-34).

The author first sprays the part with the X-34 (Metallic Brown), uses a sprung clothes peg to hold a small piece of net curtain over the part and then sprays the X-1 (Black) over it, finally coating it in Johnson's Klear.

The results don't look too shabby, either. (If a little on the large side for 1/24).

He suggests using other metalllic colours to achieve differing subtle shades of CF.

Quite a good build, although I've seen much better work on here!

Regards
Mark

Just a little tip.
The mesh says to paint it with TS17. Give it a very light spray with TS30(Silver leaf) instead if you have some, as it will cover the mesh 10 times better.
