Angry Keyless entry programming

I have a 03 eclipse. I just got a new remote for it and I can't find information how to program it to my car. Is there anyone who knows how to do it? Please help me out, I've been searching the internet for days with no luck.

Is the keyless entry aftermarket, or is it a factory remote. If it is factory, call up the dealer and ask them how to program the remote.

Re: Keyless entry programming

I did go to the dealer, but they won't tell me how to do it, they want to do it and charge you lots of money for it. For a 5 minute job!

Goalieman24: Can you tell me that one? I would like to try it maybe it works. Thanks.

Re: Keyless entry programming

To reprogram your keyless entry system for a new key fob:
1) Turn ignition to OFF.
2) Ground pin 1 of the Data Link Connector (black 16-pin connector under dash driver's side). Pin 4 of this connector is a ground, so placing a jumper wire between pins 1 & 4 will accomplish this. Grounding pin 1 tells the system you are getting ready to reprogram it.
3) Close all the doors.
4) Turn the key to ACC, then back to OFF. The power locks will lock/unlock. The system is now ready to be programmed.
5) Press a button on your key fob.
6) If you have two key fobs, press a button on the second fob within 1 minute of pressing a button on the first one. Both must be programmed at the same time. If you only have one remote, press a button on it 2 more times to signal that you only have one.
7) The doors will lock/unlock to signal that the codes were received.
8) Remove the connection between pins 1 & 4.

Did you try asking in the 2000+ eclipse forum, they would probably know more.

You put your key in the ignition (in the off position), then ground out the first pin on the ODB-II (the one on the top row, far left, if you're looking at the connector with the wide part on the top) located under the driver's side dash, right next to the center console and then connect the other end of the wire to a ground, then close your doors and hit the emergency button six times within ten seconds. Your doors will lock and unlock to tell you it's in "Program Mode" or whatever.

THEN, you're supposed to be able to hit the "Lock" button on the remote three times (at 1 second intervals), and the doors should unlock and lock again, to tell you that it's programmed.

Don't really care when it was posted NOVEMBER, DECEMBER or JANUARY, if there is others, it's FYI......

Note it only works for 02 - up (00-01 out of luck)

Hi,

This might be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway because I am not sure:

1. Where could I find a jumper wire - is a regular one or a special one that I need to get?

2. If for some reason the jumper wire does not ground the pins right could this mess up my electrical system and damage the power options? I see all the other steps are off that system - the doors, the remote etc. - or not grounding it right will just not allow the system to run in program mode for me to install the remote?

Thank you in advance and I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Svetlin

Re: Keyless entry programming

you can use just about anything to jump the pins.. if i remember correctly I used a paper clip on mine when I set it up. If you have a 2g scroll on up to what goalieman or whoever posted to do... do that except after you turno to acc and back off press a button 3 timez stead of 1... peace
