water on engine from vented hood
i was thinking about getting one of those hoods with the vents in it, my cousin has a vented hood on his integra and when i drive it i can straight see the heat waves coming out of it, so to me it seems logical that it helps the engine by releasing some of that heat. is there a mild performance gain from that little air outlet? also, im concerned about rain and water getting in there, he said that when he drives in the rain the water just goes on his header and it steams a little. wont it get into the electrical system, or the water will cause the header to crack? overall im just wondering, will driving with the vented hood in the rain mess up my engine? i had an idea that i could make a little piece of something to plug up the vent on rainy days, like a little cover or something, anybody done this?

i have the mugen style carbon fiber hood on my car and water goes in it when i wash it and when it rains the only thing that has happened is like you said it gets on your header and it started to get a little rust on it but thats all with mine. if anyone knows if this is really bad id be interested in hearing it also.

Re: water on engine from vented hood
Well when you drive in the rain your header gets wet anyways because the bottom of your engine bay is open. The only thing I would be concerned about is when your car just sits in the driveway while it rains. They won't be hot enough to make it evaporate, and they'll rust. If you get a hood which makes it drain somewhere else that'd be cool, or if you have some kinda heatshield...

Re: water on engine from vented hood
To get water into your electircal is pretty hard. Yu would have to take a pressure washer to the ehgine compartment for that to happen. If you have a stinles steel header the water just evaporates. But may leave rust spots. Just get a polish and polish them off

Re: water on engine from vented hood
the only thing to worry about is water in the electrical parts, but that is pretty hard do unless you live where it rains really hard. but a little water doesn't do much, i won't worry about it.

what if i have a turbo, will that be bad? or still ok just like a header? i think the vented hood will help a lot with the cooling
