Was your car running fine before you worked on it?

Actually the battery was weak and I had to get it jumped on a couple of occassions but I have since charged the battery and nothing. Is the ignitor just another term for the distributor?

No the igniter is inside of the distributor. It could be the igniter, ignition coil, main relay, & many more things. Does the fuel pump come on when trying to start? Have you checked for fuel pressure & spark?
Don't replace parts unless you know their bad or will make your car faster. http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-23-56.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-23-63.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-23-55.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-23-64.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-11-22.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-11-24.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-11-25.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...s/91-11-92.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual.../91-11-111.jpg There are some links to get you started. |

I had the same problem on my Del Sol. It turns out the distributor bearing just seized up. This happens on high milage distributors. To check on your car, Take the distributor off the head and spin the rotor on the distributor that goes in the head. If it spins freely then it is not the problem, if it hesitates or does not spin at all, replace the entire distributor cause you cannot just replace the bearing. I got a used one from a junk yard. As long as the rotor spins it is okay to use. Basically, if the rotor does not spin, the spark plugs do not ignite.
