ac compressor belt necessary or not?
hey i'm just wondering if anything else is attached to the belt that spins the ac compressor, my compressor's clutch went out and my compressor is rusted my ac doesn't even work but my car is eating up mileage because it's trying to turn the compressor and making a huge scraping noise, please if i can't just clip it off tell me what belt i need to get to replace it, any help would be appretiated by my engine who is currently straining.

Re: ac compressor belt necessary or not?
You can just cut it, there is a different belt for the alternator & p/s if you have that.

Clip that biatch, then remove all your a/c stuff and save a lil more on gas

I just took my a/c belt of about a month ago. I havent really noticed any differences, but i know it doesnt hurt, plus I plan on taking the rest out over christmas break. And if you dont want to cut it, its just one bolt to take off the pulley and the belt comes off too, in case you need it later on for something.

ahhhh, that other wheel is an unused wheel just to help it get to the ac compressor, that will help. thanx all.

Re: yes
There is a SLIGHT difference without the A/C belt, not much. You'd be better off reducing weight & ripping all the A/C BS off.
