Question Why modify?

Well, why are you modifying your car. Is it for looks, power or handling. I ask the question because you will have seen pics of my car after I made the usual changes, uprated suspension, 17's, bodykit and so on and so on.....now that I've done it I've decided to change it next year.

I'm going for power for my next car. But I can't decide which civic. I'm thinking a 1.6VTI and sticking a turbo or supercharger on it. I'm not going to put any bodykit on it. Just lower and forged lightweight 16's or 17's.

Is the 1.6VTI the best one or does anyone have other ideas?

BTW It will be a used civic from 96-00 that I'm gonna buy.

I often asked this question to myself and I came to this conclusion. We all like are cars and want them to look the best they can and perform the best they can. We want to be original and get respect from other car enthousiasts. I think this is the reason.

I really like the VTi. I wish they weren't so hard to find (and expensive) over here, otherwise I would have had one a long time ago...

Personally I donīt think that Iīm doing it for the respect of other enthusiasts (okay, maybe a little bit ) because none of them know my car. Iīve never put any pics anywhere! Only the people around me know my car and we donīt have any real Honda scene over here. Iīm doing it because I want to be different (too much Golfs over here ) and because I want to go fast! My Prelude is really rare in my city but itīs not that fast. So Iīm going to buy an ITR (which will be done till the end of january) because itīs even more rare than my Lude and much faster, too. So the main reason should be because I just wanna go fast!

00īCivic SR, if you want to buy a Civic the VTi should be the best! Wasnīt the Civic Si coupe available in Ireland and the UK, too? If yes then I would try to get one of these. They are the best Civics except the old and the new CTR.

At the moment I'm going for looks as even though I could afford a faster car (I was recently offered a very nice Prelude 2.2 Vtec), it would kill me to pay the outragous insurance fees every year
But even when I can go for power, I think I will still have to have the looks as well

Ok I've been thinking about this a bit more. I might go with an engine sway as I done a search yesterday and today for a 1.6VTi and found 1

Does anyone know where I can find information of what engines will fit my car. I currently have the D14Z2 (wow) so will a B series engine fit? what else do I need for an engine sway?

If anyone can point me to a website with this information, I would be very grateful.

thanks

Informations about hybrid cars: http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/ ! All Honda engines will fit in your Civic if youīve got enough money to spend. Personally I would try to get one of these 1.8l DOHC VTEC engines (dunno the code for the engine, but it is a MB6) with about 169hp from the ī97-ī00 Civic 5 door sedan! It should fit in your car without too many problems I would guess. But remember that you should get better brakes, new clutch, new ECU and wiring harness, maybe a new exhaust system, new tachometer (?)..., too. Itīs even possible that the location of your exhaust system has to be changed!

Thanks for the link Veetec. It's gonna be another 6 months before I'm ready to change my civic, or change the engine. I will have enough money then to go all out.

I would love to get a good B series engine and put a turbo on it. I'm not worried about insurance. I want to build up a powerful car and I'm willing to pay

Yes Anyone under 30 will pay at least €1700 - €3800 for insurance on a Civic. Once you get past 30 the prices are not as bad but still not cheap.

I saw a '98 ITR for sale in Ireland yesterday €19681. How does that compare with europe? BTW Nobody will give me a quote for an ITR

Most ITRs I see here go for around 16600 euro. These cars are usuely '97-'99 with +/-30000km.
