Re: Need cheap/semi fast car
Well if your looking for a used car i would sugest a mid 90's cavalier z24. Slap a turbo on there and you have a low- mid 14's car for around 4-6k or less.

Re: Re: Need cheap/semi fast car
Or you can get a 5.0 Foxbody and run mid to low 14's for less than $5k.
Butt since you said not Camaro fast... and since the Foxbody is pretty much camaro(excluding LS1's) fast.. then uh.. Get a Civic.

you can get a dsm (eclipse, talon) 1st gen for under $4000 and or a toyota supra mkIII for under $4000, fast cars for cheap and can be easily modded, lots of bolt-ons.
btw you would really have fun with a mkIII try and look in to that. |

I know you're infatuated with Cavaliers for some odd reason, but even with all the exhaustive R&D that has been done to Honda B-motors, it's neither easy or cheap to put a turbo on one still...much less on a Cavalier 2.2, 2.3 or even the 2.4. Even turbo-charging say, a 4G63 is still a somewhat pricey affair, even though it has a turbo-charged brother in Eclipse GS-T's/GS-X's 4G63T. My SR20DE has a famous sibling in the SR20DET, and even shares some of its internals with it, and I'll still need at least 1,000-dollars to turbocharge it...and I can't assure reliability at that price-level. I don't begrudge you your suggestion, and you're certainly entitled to it, but quit trying to make it sound like it's easy...and this is coming from a former owner of Beretta GTZ, which housed the Quad-4 motor, the most powerful N/A 4-banger (180 to 190HP) Chevy ever put on any of their cars. With that being said, I bought my Classic SE-R for about 1,800-dollars before financing, and have run a best of 15.0 with G-Tech timing, and piss-off people on a daily basis. Another 1000 or less for complete bolt-ons, you'll be in the mid-high 14's, all-motor, reliably. Just do a search for my racing posts and do some research on the SR20 motors. Just don't expect the car to assist you in picking up chicks...you're on your own on that one .

Supra's suck in the snow, the tires are too wide to do any good in the snow best thing would be a Celica All-trac turbo if you looking to buy a Toyota to drive in the snow. |

I know the mustang 50's are a good buy for cheap/fast type. I dont know what a good running one will cost. On the other hand, my friend this weekend just bought a 92 eclipse gsx in excellent running condition 95k miles from a older man for $1600. Im trying my hardest to offer him $2500 for it. Damn Im totally jelous. I looked at it and turbo is in excellent cond, motor purrs and we launched it at 4k and almost obliberated his brand new dodge neon drt4 off the line. I caught up in 2nd gear within seconds tho( me driving the srt4). Damn for $1600 he could put another $1400 and have a evil track monster easily in the low 13's if not a second faster.

why are you talking about snow who said anything about snow?he said semi fast and cheap. and also what makes you think that he can afford a cavalier and a turbo thats not cheap that adds up to about $9000, if that was the case he could get a used 300zx twin turbo or used vr4 or used Z28 or Used mustang gt. the list goes on and on when you get that high in price try to think cheap for him as if he only has $3000 bucks |

Where did you find a newer style body Cavalier for $1500, in perfect running condition? I'd like to know, cause I wouldn't mind picking up a cheap daily driver.
