putting a 454 in 94 Camaro?

I was thinking of putting 454 in my 94 Chevy Camaro. I am going to have it stroked out and bored. Putting this size of an engine with as much horsepower as it might generate means I will need certain parts that will hold up. My questions are: What type of rear axle will I need to get because my factory axle will probably snap like a twig. Also, I plan on putting in the six speed transmission but I dont think it will match up to the engine, so could I just use the bell housing that fits to that particular engine and be able to fit the six speed in there? What other sort of things should I think about when putting this in? I know I will have to make new mounts and probably have to cut into the firewall. Am I also going to be looking at having to change my suspension and should I do and what parts should I use if I have to beef it up? Thanks.

Get a 12 bolt rear, or a Ford 9" if you're making some serious numbers...

So if I get a 12 bolt rear, will I still have the same bolt pattern. I have chrome Z06 rims and Eagle F1's. I dont want to have to get new stuff because of the pattern.

Nope you'd be going from a 10 bolt to a 12 bolt pattern, but that doesn't matter. You'd be swapping the entire axle...

Re: putting a 454 in 94 Camaro?

um, first off, if yall pull off the big block swap in the fourth gen, madddd crazy props, thats a project that i would not want to go near, but there are some major things to think about, first off, with a big block in a camaro, the first and most important thing to put in, especially with T-tops are weld in subframe connectors. and maybe even a roll cage, not so much for safty but for structural strength, even a four point is better than nothing. also, go with the 12 bolt, or 9 inch rear like blkSS said, there are companys that make bolt in units that work with all your stock equipment. also, get a torsen rear diff if you can, they are the best, and handle massive power. as far as the six speed, im not exactly sure, youd have to do some looking on that, but if they do work, i would reccomned the T56 unit that is used in the Z06 vette and dodge viper, they handle the 405-500 hp from those vehicles just fine. as far as the bolt pattern, go with BlkSS i dont have a clue.

The stock rearend is a 10 bolt. By switching to a 12 bolt, you're swapping the entire assembly. Can't just add two bolts, would be nice and much cheaper though...

Re: putting a 454 in 94 Camaro?

lol, well yeah thats a given, i was talking about the lug nut pattern. as in the wheel bolts, well, studs and nuts anyway. i dont know if those are the same pattern as the 10 bolt. so that mike would have to buy new rims
