Post GTP engine cover?

Hello, I'm new around here.

I am wondering if the plastic cover over the supercharger and engine of the GTP is necessary. If it isnt, I'm considering taking it off so more of the supercharger is viewable, and I get more of a roar .

The only real problem I can think of is maybe...heating issues? Insulation?

If it isn't necessary, and the engine won't mind if I remove it, how CAN I take it off? I noticed that the oil dipstick base holds it in somewhat..

Very easy to do. I dont know any GP owners that keep the engine covers on unless they are at a car show.

Just unscrew the oil cap neck, undo the screw on the top of the cover and pull the cover off. You can put the entire oil neck/cap back on or just put the cap on.

Oild Dipstick???

First of all. Is not required. It does not insulate that much noise.

To tell you the truth the engine is not that beautifull either.
They installed the cover to beautify it a little.

Never the less, the dipstick should not be holding the cover but
the oil cap usually has an extension that will hold the cover.
You can remove this extension twisting it clockwise.

Then pushing the cover down and then forward(toward the car front)
will unhook it from the clamp on the engine back.

This will allow you to take it off. It is really easy.

Luck

I agree. I think most GTPers take the cover off. However, there is a guy, I think he's in the Kansas City GP club, who customized his cover by cutting patterns in it and then filling the opening with the mesh that the Street Scene grills are made of. It looks great! I'll see if I can find a pic. Here's mine.........

I like the bars installed on your car, but definetly the SC has to
many veins out for my taste, I would love to see your budies
mesh additiong to the cover.
Your conical air filter is masive. Tell me where are you holding your ECU?
I am going to install an SLP hood and the related hardware to make
it look as stock as possible and the ECU will be stored with the COnical FIlter on the box. Yours look awesome tought but where you placed
the IAT sensor and the ECU?

ECU/PCM is under the thrasher box

IAT sensor is pluged in the same place that a stock one would be, right in the Fduct.

Yeah, the PCM (ECU) is mounted on a tray beneath the filter housing. I liked the look of the Thrasher but I think there's a couple of others out there that are actually a little more effective. The IAT is in it's original location. That's a 9" K&N. This is one of my favorite mods.

The SLP hoods look great. Since my car is four door I'm not sure I'd put one on my car though.

Re: GTP engine cover?

My car is for doors but I already installed the SLP spoiler and will definetly install the hood. Then will paint the car red and finish with clear mixed with metallic charcoal gray. I installed a crossmember to hold the struts in place under harsh conditions, everything else will stay stock. Thanks for the update.

What Mods have you done to your car? I can see in style, but, performancewise. Does the headers have given you any beneffits besides extra sound?

Best Headers for a GTP. Proven 18hp on a stock car.

Doubt these are what LowKey is running though. Dont think he has room in the Feiro. I could be wrong though. Im sure he'll correct me.

Re: GTP engine cover?

they fit but it might require to cut the trunk cause the exhaust would be exiting the wrong way. Ones I got dynoed out at 16 HP 11 TQ on a stock motor, could've slapped a V8 in there but I really like the 3800 good dependability and that blower sound is killer

1.9 rockers
3.25 supercharger pulley
Ceramic coated headers
custom ECM
160 drilled tstat
TB spacer
NGK TR6's
CAI w/ K&N
Adjustable fuel regulator

then next year going to put the intercooler on there with a 2.8/3.0 pulley still deciding which one, then I have to replace the muffler still using the stock V6 muffler on the fiero you shift through the gears all you hear is the SC that thing is pretty darn loud, my dad can hear me a few blocks away

Cool, in my case the only mods I have done are reinforced piston arms, Modified ECU and 180tstat. 3.2pulley(pumps 14psi) and also got a 2.4"
one). Your car must be really fast because with my ECU pumps 295bhp
at the dyno and I was racing a Porsche Cayenne S at 138mph
and 4750rpms.
What is the fastest you have driven?
