V60 bumper inquiry??

Last post got some hits .. but no responses .. so I'm re-posting and re-phrasing.

Co-worker is participating in the Volvo, buy it here - pick it up there program. He just got back to USA after taking possession of his new Volvo V60! (Yes a V60! I guess you can't get it locally?) Anyway, he had some pics of it. In looking at the front bumper, I noticed waht looked like a covered insert?? Rectangular shape, maybe 3" x 3", just above the aux lights. I asked him about it .. he didn't even notice it until I pointed it out (He's not a car guy .. just has the $$ to spend.)

My question .. whats behind the cover/patch?

He/I can't see the car until .. late December .. when the car is expected to arrive .. its on a boat (ship?) right now ...

I think one of you is mistaken as there's no such thing as a Volvo V60. If it's a sedan it could be a S40 (very small), S60 (mid-sized), or S80 (very large for a Euro car.) If it's a wagon it could be a V40 or V70 and then of course there's their SUV (XC90) and coupe (C70 - the geriatric Volvo.)

If I remember correctly the panel you mentioned houses a recepticle for a tow eye / tie down (used for shipping or strapping down to a flatbed tow truck.) I'll have to take a look at our Volvos later to reconfirm but that's what it was on prior Volvos I owned.

DOH ... just looked at some new photo(s) .. its a S60 ... thanks for the info. Its what I suspected .. or a cover for a cigarette lighter .. LOL ...
