Fuel Pump ???

Hi, My '95 Taurus GL SOMETIMES when cold doesn't want to stay running and has a rough idle. My husband put a fuel pressure guage on the system and it read 33 psi at idle, while increasing engine speed the pressure dropped to 32. Changing the fuel filter did not change the fuel pressures. Slowing the engine down from about half throttle to idle, one time the fuel pressure guage spiked to 40 psi. Do you think it may be the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator? Thanks in advance! Debbie

Have you checked the computer codes? Dosen't sound like a fuel pump or fuel system problem at all. Could be anything from an O2 sensor, to a bad or dirty IAB. If you need help on doing this. Let me know.
